Travel Insurance for people with medical conditionsSince the largest claims made under travel insurance is for medical treatment, insurance companies have to decide whether and how much to charge people who have pre existing medical conditions. If you have an accident or suffer from sickness then you should make sure your policy protects you. You would not want to take out a mortgage to repay the costs involved! As insurance brokers, B Portwood have access to many travel insurance schemes, including those for people over 65, and most of them will offer terms for people with medical conditions. In fact our cheap travel insurance quotation system emphasises the contact numbers for you to call so that you can find out on what basis your medical conditions can be protected. For very serious medical conditions - including those with a terminal prognosis, people travelling specifically to obtain treatment for their conditions and those who are awaiting tests, we have a special travel insurance policy. (No age limit!) However most medical conditions can be covered under our standard travel insurance policies. Once you have received a quote to cover your medical condition from an insurer you can either accept the terms or take out the policy without paying any additional premium. Please note that in this latter case then any claim arising directly or indirectly from your medical condition will be excluded (which may be a wider exclusion than you may expect). Naturally we cannot recommend that you take out the policy as you could face a large bill. In many cases, however, another of our travel insurance policies may cover your medical condition.
